Location of Materials

The Library of Congress classification for the law of France is "KJV".  This is found on the 3rd floor of the Law Library on stack 352.  To find French legal materials located elsewhere in the Law Library, use TALLONS, the Law Library's online catalog.

Throughout this guide reference is made to resources that are freely availabe online at the website called Legifrance.  This government website describes itself as the "public service for access to law."  It contains a large amount of French legal information and today it is a leading source for research on French law.

Tarlton Law Library's French Law Collection

Tarlton Law Library maintains an excellent collection of French law.  With some exceptions, the collection is in French, so the researcher who wishes to do in-depth research in French law should know French.  As many sources of French law can now be found on the Web, this guide points to online sources of French law.  The guide also points to English-language sources on French law, both in Tarlton Law Library and online.
