Printing

Print output from laptops may be sent to laser printers at the 3rd floor computer lab help desk, next to the Circulation desk, on the 4th floor of the Library, and in George's Cafe. Printer software and a BevoBucks account are required. See below for details.

Computers located on carrels next to the computer lab help desk and in the computer classroom print to laser printers located at the computer lab help desk on the 3rd floor. (For printing from the public computers on the 2nd floor--which is more expensive at 13 cents/page--the print station accepts copier cards.)

Print Software

To print from your laptop, download the appropriate software.

  • For Windows, there is one installer that is the appropriate software to download for most computers. If your Windows system runs a 64-bit operating system, you will need to download and install different software.
  • For Macs, there is a separate installer to download.

You should be able to download this software yourself at your convenice, but feel free to swing by the computer help desk on the 3rd floor if you have any questions or problems. (See UT's ITS website for a complete list of print installers around campus.)

Printing charges

All print charges are billed to BevoBucks accounts. Double-sided/duplex printing (printing a single sheet on both sides) is available on all Law Library printers at twice the cost of single sided printing.

Black and white laser printing $0.06 per page
Color laser printing $0.50 per page

All printers print to 8 ½″ x 11″ paper only.

Missing a print job? Here are a couple steps you can take to find it:

  • Check your BevoBucks account: it will tell you if your print job went through, if your account was actually charged, and show you which printer you actually sent your job to.
  • If that fails to the solve the problem, contact the computer help desk.

Lexis & Westlaw Printing

Lexis and Westlaw printers are located on the Library's 3rd floor, by the computer help desk (JON 3.220).

There is no charge for printing to the designated printers. Your name will appear on the banner page of the print job. Printouts are arranged alphabetically by user name. Printouts not picked up within three days will be discarded.

Scanners

The Library has a book scanner on the 2nd floor, near the copiers. The e-scan™ scanning kiosk is designed for scanning any bound document into PDF, JPG, or TIFF formats. Output may be sent to your e-mail account as a file attachment or saved to a USB key. There is no charge for use of the e-scan™.

There is also a scanning station on the 3rd floor, near the computer help desk.

Copying

Copiers are available on every floor of the Library. (See the Library's maps for locations.) Per page charges are $0.13. Library copiers accept copy cards only - they do not accept cash. Patrons may purchase a copy card at the card dispenser located on the main floor of the Library using cash, MasterCard or Visa. A value of up to $50.00 may be stored on a card. Copy cards purchased at other locations on the UT campus can also be used in Library copiers.  The Library does not have change.  Please note the following:

  • Copy cards cost $1.00, without value. Value must be added to the card in order to make copies.
  • Debit cards cannot be used to purchase or add value to a card in the Library
  • Bills of $20 value or less may be used to add value to copy cards, but no change will be given
  • There is a $2.00 minimum charge for credit card transactions.

Full-service copying and credit card purchase of copy cards are available from UT Libraries Library Copier Services. More information on Library Copier Services can be found at http://www.lib.utexas.edu/services/copyprint/index.html.
